The State Archives in Zadar

The State Archives in Zadar (DAZD) is located in Ruđera Boškovića 1 Street, in the town centre in close proximity to the University of Zadar. Its premises are in the building which it shares with the Research Library and Maritime School. It can easily be reached on foot, by car or public transport.

Guidebooks

The archival Guides contain descriptions of existing archival funds and collections. They inform about the present state of order and the processing degree of individual archival funds and collections with the summary overview of archival material. It is the result of the work of archive institutions since its establishment until the publication of their archival guides. Guides provide important information on archival holdings and collections at the highest level.

Since 23th November 2022.the Reading Room of the State Archives in Zadar is open  from 8:30 am to 18:00 pm on Wednesdays. Archival records to be used on Wednesday afternoons should be ordered the same day untill 14:00.

Improved ventilation of the Reading room is mandatory every day from 11:00 am to 11:30 am,  and on Wednesdays additionally from 15:00 pm to 15:30 pm. During the break, users are required to leave the reading room.

In accordance with the state epidemiological measures to prevent the spread of  COVID-19, the Reading room of the State Archives in Zadar works as follows:

The Reading Room of the State Archives in Zadar is open  from 8:30 am to 14:00 pm on working days, and on Wednesdays from 8:30 am to 18:00 pm (with prior notice until Tuesday at 14.00 pm for work on Wednesday afternoons).

A maximum of 7 users are allowed to stay in the Reading room at the same time in marked places. To work in the Reading room, users must pre-register by e-mail at citaonica@dazd.hr ,  or by phone 023 627 353.

The Collection office of Novalja: service hours from 8:00 to 14:30h on working days.

Reading rooms

The State Archives Reading Room in Zadar is open from 8:30 to 14:00h on working days and from 8:30 to 18:30h on Wednesdays, except in period from July 1st till August 31st, when the Reading Room is opened as in the other working days. The same applies in case a public holiday (day off) falls on Thursdays.

Archival records to be used on Wednesday afternoons should be ordered the same day untill 14:00h.

The Reading room of the Archives of Zadar Diocese: service hours from 8:00 to 14:30h on working days.

The Reading room of the Collection center of Novalja service hours from 8:00 to 14:30h on working days.
